Our Mission
The faculty of the Educational Leadership Studies program at West Virginia University hold a unique role in the development of educational leaders within the state of West Virginia, across the United States and around the world. EDLS faculty operate from a vantage point of educators within an institution deeply committed to the incorporation of current research into professional educational leadership practices. Faculty skilled in the conduct of research on practice bring both practical and theoretical perspectives to the preparation of public school and higher education leaders.
Program faculty define their mission as:
- The preparation of public school and higher education leaders.
- The conduct and dissemination of research on educational leadership practices.
- The enhancement of leadership skills and knowledge of practicing educational leaders.
- The provision of service to public and higher education institutions around the state and to West Virginia University.
- The exemplification of high levels of scholarly inquiry into their teaching, leadership, and service actions.
